On April 2, 2018, the government of Shanghai Pudong New District held their award ceremony for companies from Shanghai Pudong New District. The companies awarded made outstanding economic contributions in 2017. Shanghai Green Valley won the "2017 Outstanding Contribution Award for Enterprises with the Fast Growth." This was another major award for Green Valley following its title of “Four New” Enterprise Innovation Award from the Government of Pudong New District.

Weng Zuliang, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee, the Party Secretary of Pudong New District Committee and Director of the Administrative Committee of the China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone, Hang Yingwei, Deputy Secretary General of the Shanghai Municipal People's Government, Deputy Party Secretary of the Pudong New District Committee, District Governor and executive deputy director of the Administrative Committee of the China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone, and other leaders attended the award ceremony. These distinguished dignitaries presented representatives of the prize-winning companies with their awards.

It was reported that companies making significant contributions to the economic development of Pudong New District were awarded these honors. The government of Pudong New District presented 8 awards to 160 enterprises, and they included top 20 enterprises with special contributions to the economy, top 20 enterprises with outstanding contributions to the financial industry, top 20 enterprises with outstanding contributions and fast growth, etc. Apart from Green Valley, some well-known companies were also awarded with the special honors including Roche Pharmaceuticals, WuXi AppTec, MicroPort, and others.

At the award ceremony, Hang Yingwei, Governor of Pudong New District, gave the entrepreneurs an introduction on the developmental “range” and “scope” of Pudong District over the past 28 years, and the increasingly prominent contributions of innovative enterprises to that rapid economic growth in Pudong District. Data shows that the total economic output in Pudong New District accounts for one-third of the total output from Shanghai. As the economy grows rapidly, a number of outstanding enterprises have been active in the Pudong marketplace. New forms of business have flourished with some “unicorns” and invisible champions within industry continually springing up.

Enterprises with fast growth refer to companies that have grasped the inherent laws of the market economy and the inherent needs of industry transformation in Pudong District, achieved rapid growth, demonstrated ‘Pudong speed,’ and made outstanding contributions to Pudong in their efforts to achieve the strategic goal of restructuring, level improving, and functional strengthening. Driven by innovation and R&D, Green Valley has always been leading innovation and breakthroughs in the industry. Green Valley has been trending towards“unicorn”status in the industry and has continued to create value for the regional economy.
